Exploring Your Universe 2022

We were again able to participate in Exploring Your Universe, one of our favorite events!

After 2 years of virtual science fairs, this year EYU returned to UCLA’s Court of Sciences, where thousands of children and parents came to UCLA for free science education and games. This was a great opportunity to work on our science communication skills, and we all had a fantastic time!

Our pinwheel of questions got kids excited to think deeply about science concepts, and they really wowed us with their ingenuity! They also got to write or draw on postcards to explain why science is important to them. We collected zip codes — if parents allowed of course — so that the postcards can be used in the future to advocate for science and early education funding.

We also made fun sticker swag to award kids for participating – including some with our group’s logo, as well as some stickers that said “Support Science Policy!” and “Science is for Everyone”.

It is always a joy to see kids connecting to different fields of science at such a young age, their curiosity is so inspiring – we can’t wait for next year’s event!
