Divestment from UCLA AFfiliation with Discriminatory Hospitals
The Science Policy Group at UCLA is advocating for divestment from UCLA’s affiliation with discriminatory hospitals. These hospitals are forced to abide by directives put forth by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and we are opposed to prioritizing religion over medical science. We believe that the evidence clearly demonstrates that these partnerships result in dangerous and negligent healthcare. UC medical students and trainees - not to mention patients - are being sent into these hospitals to provide insufficient and dangerous care to women and discriminates against the LGBTQ+ community.
Since UCSF only divested from these partnerships after a public outcry, and the UC regents are voting on the issue shortly, we are trying to bring much-needed attention to this issue.
More info can be found in our full infographic series on the issue.
