SPG Recognized at NSPN’s SciPol Awards

The National Science Policy Network (NSPN) held their 2021 SciPol Awards ceremony on June 2nd to celebrate NSPN members and chapters who have made outstanding contributions in science policy.

Out of five award categories, the Science Policy Group at UCLA was honored as a winner for two and runner-up for a third.

Impactful Writing chapter winner: Science Policy Group at UCLA

Recognized for: 1. Writing 5+ policy memos and sharing them in popular science outlets, 2. Advocating for the proposed policies by meeting with legislators

Contribution to NSPN Committee chapter winner: Science Policy Group at UCLA

Recognized for: 1. Collaborating with NSPN's Diplomacy Committee to host a virtual space diplomacy panel, 2. Engaging with our community by organizing events with local schools and policymakers

NSPN Service chapter runner-up: Science Policy Group at UCLA

Recognized for: 1. Organizing a virtual panel with NSPN's Diplomacy Committee, 2. Contributing to our local Science Debate team
